The standard work in the field since 1932, the present edition (eighth was 1988) contains 20 chapters and includes some 10,000 illustrations. This edition adds a new chapter on masonry that helps redefine the use and application of this reliable building material; a new chapter on building types and space planning; 60 pages based on the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act; a resource section at the end of each chapter, which lists published references, trade associations, government agencies, and regulatory organizations pertaining to the material in the chapter, including addresses and phone numbers; and 18 pages on site, community, urban, and regional land planning.
