Like him or not, Clint Eastwood has been and still is considered one of the greatest directors of this country. Yet, he is regarded as famous because of his action films like Dirty Harry. This movie, on the other hand, shows his tender side and that he's willing to take cinematic chances. The story revolves around a country singer in the making trying to make ends meet for himself and his son, played by Clint's son, Kyle. Instead of action scenes and dramatic scenes, this film focuses more on the characters and what they're like as people, making investment in their journey all the more worthwhile. This is recommended to all Clint Eastwood fans as he acted in this film and directed it and it's different from the kinds of films he got famous for. And that's not a bad thing at all.

As an Eastwood fan I was surprised to learn that he was in this film about a man in Dust Bowl period trying to make it as a country music star. His goal is to get along to Nashville & play on the grandest stage: The Grand Ole Opry. His Nephew (played by his Son) accompanies him there with him in this road picture. Eastwood does his own singing & you see many veteran actors including Barry Corbin, John Mcintire & the Verna Bloom of "Medium Cool" fame.
If your an Eastwood or even an country music fan then this is must see for all!
