Super noir like Bogey would have done.

An uncompromising vision of life's brutality, and Sam Peckinpah's deepest and most rewarding exploration of what it means to be a man. Sadly not that well known. The purest expression of Sam's recurring thematic meditations on masculinity, and it's got Warren Oates!!!!!! A very rare and special cinematic treat.

It plays like a pulp noir thriller by way of a road movie of the damned, marinated in mescal and left to rot in the desert sun.

This is one of the great Peckinpah films with a louche performance from Warren Oates.

Another great film from Sam Peckinpah- albeit a relatively unheralded one in his career. Warren Oates is outstanding as the main character.
