An 80's classic. Lot's of funny things happening in the background of scenes so you can find new laughs the second, third, etc. viewings.

Released in 1984 - Repo Man was an instant cult-movie about a new wave punk who takes a job repossessing cars.

This film mixes social satire with science fiction. This format works well only about half the time.

A little "too weird" for my taste, but a somewhat interesting, albeit silly, plot with unexplained (and goofy) plot twists. The ending was stupid and the screenwriter tried (frantically) to pull all the loose ends together by having the "unexplained" people meet and say "hi" in a hospital just prior to the climax. Not a satisfying use of my time and I won't recommend it because of all the gratuitous violence.

It’s a mess, but a fun one that really builds a surreal and bizarre world for the unlikeable hero to progress through. While probably not as meaningful as the director envisioned it, there is at least an interesting commentary on punks and “joining the man” threaded throughout the story.

It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained and interesting. But it was NOT worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box.

This is a gritty, low budget, cult classic that sprung up from the 80s hardcore punk era of Black Flag, The Stooges, Circle Jerks, etc. If you're tuned in to those bands you'll love this film despite its confused ending. The hand held, guerilla style camera work gives you a gut level feel of the LA streets; it almost has the feel of documentary. But it also has a really good story that young people can identify with as well, especially proletariat kids who are forced to fend for themselves after leaving high school and entering the work world. Punk rock's psychedelic, chaotic inner life merges successfully with the hyper realism of this movie and produced a classic that is being watched 32 years later. Five stars despite the garbled ending.

Most imaginative sci fic crime comedy with bit of everything from poking fun at Ronald Reagan, ufo/aliens, evangelical scams, wishy washy politics and of course drug/car culture in the gritty shadow of L.A. during the early 1980's.

Miller: A lot o' people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch o' unconnected incidents 'n things. They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice o' coincidence that lays on top o' everything. Give you an example; show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
Otto: You eat a lot of acid, Miller, back in the hippie days?
Miller: I'll give you another instance: you know how everybody's into weirdness right now?...

Bud: Credit is a sacred trust, it's what our free society is founded on. Do you think they give a damn about their bills in Russia? I said, do you think they give a damn about their bills in Russia?
Otto: They don't pay bills in Russia, it's all free.
Bud: All free? Free my ass. What are you, a xxxx' commie? Huh?
Otto: No, I ain't no commie.

Agent Rogersz: Good evening, Otto. This is Agent Rogersz. I'm going to ask you a few questions. Since time is short and you may lie, I'm going to have to torture you. But I want you to know, it isn't personal
