Of all the samurai movies Mifune was in this is by far the worst one. Some but not all the fight scenes are ridiculous.

INCIDENT AT BLOOD PASS(『待ち伏せ』) is a 1970 film directed by Hiroshi Inagaki (稲垣浩) and produced by Mifune Production.
The movie has an all-star casting, including Toshiro Mifune (三船敏郎), Shintaro Katsu (勝新太郎), Kin-nosuke Nakamura (中村錦之助), Yujiro Ishihara (石原裕次郎), and Ruriko Asaoka (浅丘ルリ子).
This is a story about a nameless ronin or unemployed samurai played by Mifune.
This man finds himself in a bizarre ambush scheme designed to destry a clan.
Although this is a mystery-action-filled fictional drama, some important elements do place it near the end of Tokugawa Era (徳川時代)---in the early 1840s.
This is a really entertaining and fascinating piece.
You wouldn't be disappointed.

OK, but would have been better if Kurosawa directed this.
