The town of Deadwood, South Dakota is a lawless sinkhole of crime and corruption. Into this uncivilized outpost ride a disillusioned and bitter ex-lawman, Wild Bill Hickok, and Seth Bullock, a man hoping to find a new start for himself. Both men find themselves quickly on opposite sides of the legal and moral fence from Al Swearengen, saloon owner, hotel operator, and incipient boss of Deadwood. The lives of these three intertwine with many others, the high-minded and the low-lifes who populate Deadwood in 1876.

Al Swearengen is one of the all time great TV characters... this show should have had some more time.

The only criticism I have for the third season, is that it was the final season of the series. Outstanding series and the last season definitely did not disappoint!

The ability for the writers to show the transition from the diluted 'old English' through the staggering development of slang and 19th century English was amazing. An abundance of foul language was considered quite normal in the developing camp towns and is appropriate for the historical values in this series. An excellent cast with strong preformances .

Ruthless newcomer , businessman George Hearst , threatens to reshape the town into his own image, forcing Deadwood's settlers-including steadfast lawman Bullock and cutthroat saloon owner Al Swearengen- to form a strategic alliance. Bloody conflicts change the fate of the town and the citizens of Deadwood realize that some fortunes are better left unclaimed. The lawless era in Deadwood is coming to an end as the town's first elections approach , like it or not , civilization is on its way.
