John Farley grew up as a chubby kid with no athletic skills and poor self-esteem. During his early teenage years his nemesis was Mr. Woodcock, the school's gym teacher. Woodcock took a sadistic glee in tormenting John and others like him. Years later, John has slimmed down and has come to terms with his self-image. He has become a best-selling author, publishing a self-help book on overcoming the specters of the past. John comes home to visit his widowed mother, Beverly, and discovers she has a surprise for him. She has decided to get married again, and her new fiancé is Mr. Woodcock. Horrified, John is determined to keep his mom from walking down the aisle. Along the way finds himself struggling to settle some old scores.

The basic idea of the film is wrong: abusive teacher's not got punished...
Total failure, sorry for the director/writer...

A good premise with a decent cast to support it but fails in the execution. If you like zany comedies and Seann William Scott I highly recommend "Goon" and the underappreciated "Balls Out" instead.

Watchable (Fair) – This picture with Billy Bob Thorton and Sean William Scott is not as bad as most critics want you to believe. This is also not great comedy either. Billy Bob is still Billy Bob in this picture – basically a 2-dimensional crusty old gym teacher with a huge chip on his shoulder that’s never explained. Sean William Scott, who I actually liked in this picture (the annoyance factor was greatly subdued), plays a guy who’s grown to be successful after being abused repeatedly by gym teacher Billy Bob. The film does have some moments where I felt myself crack a smile, but there are no real laughs either. Billy Bob and the great Susan Sarandon are wasted in this picture. What the film does have is an interesting storyline that begs to be explored further.
