"A man doesn't live forever-- a legend does. From the moment he declared war on crime, the Batman knew his story would eventually come to an end. But for each soul he has touched, either as an ally or an enemy, a lover or a friend, an inspiration or an obsession, the life of the Dark Knight-- and its tragic conclusion-- is viewed differently. Now those closest to the Caped Crusader gather for his memorial service. Stories are told, feelings are revealed and tears are shed in a final retrospective of Batman's long and astonishing career. And for those of you who think you know the Dark Knight, prepare to find out you never did" -- dust jacket flap.
Batman's funeral gives his friends and foes a chance to reflect on his sometimes contradictory character, their very different relationships with him, and the values he died to protect.

SummaryAdd a Summary
In this beautiful story, friend and foes alike meet in a small building on crime alley to pay their final respects to the greatest hero that ever lived. However, Batman is not quite dead. He watches as a ghost while a mysterious woman waits with him. He listens as his companions and enemies tell their tales, which vastly conflict. Everyone thinks he died a different way. As the final lingerers leave, he begins to have flashbacks, the woman talking to him all the time. Then, finally, he floats into the vastness of space after a beautiful finale, in which he says goodbye to everything and everyone he has ever known. If you are an emotional person, don't read this!
