How did Santa become Santa? Hundreds of years ago in Lapland, a little boy named Nikolas lost his family in an accident. To show his gratitude to the villagers who took him in, he decides to make toys for the children of the families as goodbye presents at Christmas, thus creating a legend that would be carried on from generation to generation.

I liked this fictional biography DVD. It is good for all ages. The story takes place about 100 years ago. They live off the land as farmers and fisherman. They live in log cabins. The winters are long and cold. There is lots of snow. They use caribou as horses on sleds to get around. They make their own furniture. The costumes are like what the Pilgrims would wear. This is the story of a young orphaned boy the village raised. He had no blood siblings. His parents drown in the water crossing on the ice. No other blood relatives existed. All the families were his family since they all pitched in to raise him. To show appreciation he helped with the work to be done. He babysat the young siblings for the parents. Every Christmas he would carve out of wood gifts for all the kids in the village for all the families. He did this his whole life. As he became an elderly senior citizen, the list of new kids was very long. It was a full-time job to make the toys all year in his workshop. He wished to remain anonymous with his charity. When he finally died, the parents started giving gifts to the kids themselves. This script writer's supposition is that this may be the real beginnings of Santa Clause.

This will become an annual movie for me. I really enjoyed the story-telling. It is suitable for every person, young or old.

It is dubbed, but why refilm something when the only thing that needs changing is the language. The dubbing is as well done as possible and should not affect any level of enjoyment.

I loved the scenery and watched the special features that told me even more about the beauty of this little tale.
