An Air Force major is ordered to approach a brilliant UFO in his Phantom jet over Tehran. He repeatedly attempts to engage and fire on unusual objects heading right toward his aircraft, but his missile control is locked and disabled. Witnessed from the ground, this dogfight becomes the subject of a secret report by the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency.

In Belgium, an Air Force colonel investigates a series of widespread sightings of unidentified triangular objects, and he sends F-16s to attempt a closer look. Many hundreds of eyewitnesses, including on-duty police officers, file reports, and a spectacular photograph of an unidentifiable craft is retrieved and analyzed.

Here at home, a retired chief of the FAA’s Accidents and Investigations Division reveals the agency’s response to a thirty-minute encounter between an aircraft and a gigantic UFO over Alaska, which occurred during his watch and is documented on radar.

Now all three of these distinguished men have written breathtaking, firsthand accounts about these extraordinary incidents. They are joined by Air Force generals and a host of high-level sources—including Fife Symington III, former governor of Arizona, and Nick Pope, former head of the British Defence Ministry’s UFO Investigative Unit—who have agreed to write their own detailed, personal stories about UFO encounters and investigations for the first time.

They are coming forward now because of Leslie Kean, an investigative reporter who has spent the last ten years studying the still unexplained UFO phenomenon. Kean reviewed hundreds of government documents, aviation reports, radar data, and case studies with corroborating physical evidence. She carefully examined scientifically analyzed photographs and interviewed dozens of high-level officials and aviation witnesses from around the world. With the support of former White House chief of staff John Podesta, Kean draws on her research to separate fact from fiction and to lift the veil on decades of U.S. government misinformation. Throughout, she presents irrefutable evidence that unknown flying objects—metallic, luminous, and seemingly able to maneuver in ways that defy the laws of physics—actually exist.

No one yet knows what these objects are, even though they affect aviation safety and possibly national security. The phenomenon has been officially acknowledged by numerous foreign governments. For these reasons and many others, Kean concludes that the UFO problem must be more widely recognized and ultimately solved through an unbiased scientific investigation. The material presented throughout this landmark book is sobering, unflinching, and undeniably awe-inspiring, and moves us toward a goal of properly addressing this worldwide mystery.

Baker & Taylor
An in-depth investigation into UFO phenomena documents the author's survey of official extra-terrestrial encounters as experienced by scientists, military heads and aviators throughout the world, in a report that evaluates government reactions while making specific recommendations.

Book News
John Podesta (Center for American Progress), who has White House credentials, introduces this examination by a fellow curious skeptic about a topic often not taken seriously. From interviews with credible sources (not alleged abductees), an investigative reporter/cofounder of the Coalition for Freedom of Information regards UFOs as a genuine unidentified flying object phenomenon that should be studied further and a U.S. government cover-up as plausible, though Kean is "agnostic" regarding their nature. The book includes photos of UFOs taken worldwide. Annotation ©2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)

This book is awesome. It should be read by everyone skeptical about UFO's. It really opened up my mind. UFO's are real. It is hard to accept, but it seems that there are far more intelligent beings that come to Earth and fly around.

I am a skeptic on most things and I liked that this book actually seems to be evidence based and not of the "If we can't explain it, then it must be aliens!" variety. Actually this book doesn't dwell on aliens much at all, but just focuses on the fact that there are some Unidentified Flying Objects around, that have been around for decades, and more investigation is sorely needed. Of course the hypothesis that they are extraterrestrial is a main theme, but presented in a manner that states more investigation is needed.

Btw, the author did correctly put the clues together and hypothesized years ago that the US seemed to have restarted a top secret program to investigate UFO (or in the new preferred terminology, UAPs). She was proven correct in the recent revelations that such a program did exist and the release of some of their data. This is actually where I first heard of the author as she kept appearing on various TV shows discussing the topic.

This book is NOT for those whom think aliens are around every bush and unexplained occurrence. Also there are quite a large number on contributors to this book as well and their stories all seem credible, but some obviously have more supporting evidence than others. Eyewitness testimony has proven to be very unreliable, so some of the case studies were quite refreshing in their depth of supporting evidence.

I enjoy reading about UFO's and this book covers a large and varied perspective. It offers facts and opinions, I do believe as the evidence is clear as day and the US appears to secretly investigating. This book should be shoved in front of the none believers.
