I'm generally a skeptic when it comes to tribute albums. Interpreting someone as iconic as Hank Williams is risky business. But who better to entrust these lost songs, than Bob Dylan. All in all this collection came out pretty darn swell. Among the highlights I'd pick the more traditional Levon Helm performing YOU'LL NEVER AGAIN BE MINE, and misfit genius Jack White making YOU KNOW THAT I KNOW entirely his own.
Nice concept where the performer writes the music to a set of lyrics from the notebook. It's not my style of music, for the most part, but I enjoyed most of the tracks. Good collection, great selection of contributing artists.
The Music CD was okay – but not one of my favorites.
