Angelology plunged two star-crossed heroes into an ancient battle against mankind's greatest enemy: the fatally attractive angel-human hybrids known as Nephilim. A decade has passed since Verlaine saw Evangeline alight from the Brooklyn Bridge, the sight of her new wings a betrayal that haunts him still. Now an elite angel hunter, he pursues his mission with single-minded devotion. Until Evangeline suddenly appears on a twilit Paris street.

Where Angelology introduced readers to Trussoni’s alternate history, Angelopolis thrusts us deeper into the heart of angelic origins, the fate of the Watchers, and a final confrontation between humans and angels, which Trussoni, perhaps, might call an Angelgeddon.

Not very well written. I enjoyed the first one, but this one seems to have been written with an eye on the big screen, with lots of chases and disasters, but not much character development. Don't think I'll bother with the third.

In this second instalment, we get much more background on Evangeline & learn the identity of her father & why she was conceived. This book spends a lot of time on history, angel lore & genealogy so we fully understand the beginnings of the struggle between them & humans.
The plot is jam packed & provides alternate explanations for everything from what Noah & the flood, the real function of Faberge's eggs, the relationship between Rasputin & the Romanovs, biblical interpretations & the histories of ancient worlds.
Evangeline is at the centre of the story but her appearances are fleeting, with more time spent on Verlaine. Eno, the warrior angel has a larger role.
While the ending is almost apocalyptic in nature, action generally takes a back seat as the author uses this novel to further her world building & at times, it feels like we are being prepared for the final instalment. Let's hope it comes out a little sooner than this one did. With such a complex plot & large cast of characters, I found it difficult to remember many of the details from the first book by the time this one came out.

Really enjoyed this follow-up book to Angelology and I hope there's a third in the works. Admittedly, there were some confusing parts, especially in switching locations so frequently, but overall I think it was quite good and both the "historical" and historical aspects were also interesting.

I found this second book in the series okay at best. The story is interesting, but the dialogue is stilted and characters interchangeable. The action scenes are confusing and just not exciting, and the so called experienced angel hunters would behave incompetently - if you see you are being followed by the bad guys, well then don't be surprised when you are attacked! There are so many pages of explanation that it felt at times like reading a textbook. If you want to try a far more engaging series with angels read the Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Lani Taylor.
