A thriller with twists and turns. Someone needs slaves and people are disappearing in South Florida. Men, women, and now children are disappearing on a regular basis. What are the police doing about the forgotten? I must say that other things were somewhat neglected so that I could race through this book – and it was worth it. (submitted by JW)
This is my 3rd David Baldacci book, and my first Puller book (I assume it's a series). I enjoyed it, but I find it quite funny that because they are military and have weapons that they can take the law into their own hands (and the cops don't care that much!) I'll read another though.
John Puller's father shows him a letter from his aunt Betsy in Paradise Florida. She says Mysterious things happen in the night, People are not who they seemed and things just didn't seem right. John Puller, who can't resist a challenge goes to Paradise and indeed all is not well in Paradise. Puller finds his aunt dead when he arrives in Paradise. This makes hm more than ever determined to unearth the truth and yes of course he does after a lot of violence.
Really fun read. Fast-paced and full of action. Very good book by Baldacci
My first Baldacci read ever and this book was great as a stand alone. I was hooked from the start and really enjoyed reading agent Puller kicking ass. I enjoyed the different POV and was not able to fully predict the ending.
Definitely one of Baldacci's best books. I really like the Puller character and am amazed how he compares with Jack Reacher.
Enjoyed this one, kept me up late at night wanting to keep reading!
I read this before I read Zero Day and enjoyed how John Puller operated. His relationship with his father is a difficult one and his aunt is another interesting character in a highly intelligent and enterprising family.
Maybe it was just me, but I had a problem with this story. I usually like David Baldacci's stories, I found that .half way through the book I still couldn't find the plot. As I said, maybe it was just me.
Crime story about an old woman who is murdered and her nephew/ army warrant officer who goes to the Gulf Coast of Florida and then encounters a series of other murders that might be tied to his aunt murder. The local police get involved and questions abound as to their involvement in a series of other crimes in their small town. First time reading Baldacci; alot of military references and tactics. Readable.
A good read. Good story with very little "filler". Puller, what a guy.
