A hidden message, treachery, opposition, and a God-given success will lead to an unlikely bounty.

In Harvest of Gold (Book 2), the scribe Sarah married Darius, and at times she feels as if she has married the Persian aristocracy, too. There is another point she did not count on in her marriage—Sarah has grown to love her husband. Sarah has wealth, property, honor, and power, but her husband’s love still seems unattainable.

Although his mother was an Israelite, Darius remains skeptical that his Jewish wife is the right choice for him, particularly when she conspires with her cousin Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Ordered to assist in the effort, the couple begins a journey to the homeland of his mother’s people. Will the road filled with danger, conflict, and surprising memories, help Darius to see the hand of God at work in his life—and even in his marriage?

I like Tessa Afshar's books a lot, and I particularly enjoy the historical details. I found Harvest of Rubies to be compelling with well-developed characters. For me, though, this sequel fell short. The plot points seemed a bit contrived and a good portion of the book read like someone telling a story rather than inviting the reader into it.

I have just discovered Tessa Afshar's books, and I am so thrilled with them! I love how she weaves together historical details and spiritual truth. This story is set in the time of Nehemiah with a likeable heroine who goes from driven and finding her worth in what she does to free in the Lord and connected to those around her.

Harvest of Gold is the sequel to Harvest of Rubies. The first book focus's mostly on Sarah and in this book the reader learns more about her husband Darius. As the story unfolds the characters grow and evolve individually. The author writes in a way that is easy to connect with the characters. This novel is hard to put down, it's compelling, inspiring and insightful as well as spiritual.

This novel follows Tessa Afshar's 'Harvest of Rubies'. The reviews inside the front cover should be read. (I wish I could relate them all to you.) I concur with those who said this story was "compelling, inspiring, heart-stopping, and heartrending; a wonderful story with a totally captivating heroine. Readers won't be able to tear themselves away."

A wonderful story by an incredibly talented author. I concur with the reviewer who, speaking of Sarah, wrote, "Her faith journey strengthened mine and will inspire yours."

Harvest of Gold continues the story.

Fantastic book. Engaging plot. It did tend to be a bit on the preachy side if one is not accustomed to that, they might not love it, but I thought it was well done
