A novel based on the life of Amado Carrillo Fuentes, once the most powerful drug lord in Mexico, reveals the secrets no one dared discuss before his death while undergoing plastic surgery to disguise his appearance and avoid arrest.

Perseus Publishing

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION El Señor de los Cielos is based on the life of Amado Carrillo Fuentes, the most powerful drug lord in Mexico. In connivance with mexican authorities, he built an empire that literally trafficked tons of drugs in commercial and private plane fleets, hence his nickname “Lord of the Skies.” He was a mythical figure: only his name was known and very few had seen him in person. He was so feared, in fact, that his story could not be told before his death. Pursued by the DEA, Carrillo Fuentes underwent multiple plastic surgeries and died from complications during the procedure. And even though the DEA confirmed his death, many believe he is still alive. El Señor de los Cielos is a fiery story of love, betrayal and boundless ambition, and a door into the inner workings of the drug world.
