Disappointing his old-money San Francisco mother, Daniel Brasher left a career as a money manager to marry a community organizer and work at a job he loves, doing group counseling with recent parolees. About to move into private practice, Daniel finds a note in his mailbox: Admit what you've done or you will bleed for it. The deadline given had passed; the person it was meant for was brutally murdered. And this was only the beginning.

I don't get to say this very often, but I LOVED THIS BOOK. It was well written, the pace was good, credibility was in check, the turn at the end was unexpected AND did not ruin the book. Overall, I would say this is one of the best if not the best book by Hurwitz I've read

Unbelievable dark of night chases and knife fights, SFPD detective lets Brasher into crime scenes, part-time counselor husband and community organizer wife live--where?--in Pacific Heights? No way.
