The plot is too outrageous in too many places, i.e. the Colonies' head airship or the final scene with Commander Jameson. I still scored the novel a 5 for the overall series. I found that this novel took a plunge like Allegiant; the authors get you hooked with one and two and throw the entire kitchen sink into the final one to appease every possible reader.

The Antarctica scenario should be a novel in and of itself; it seemed out of place in Champion considering they did not have even a minor role in the whole war sequence.

I gave Legend five stars and Prodigy four, but I just couldn't get into this one the way I remember experiencing the others. Maybe it's the way the perspective changed from intimate to international, the main characters going from lone individuals struggling in and against great forces to being the power players driving nations. Maybe it's the way the action became less physical and more political. Maybe it's the way the love story dominated the plot more than the action and social/political critiques. Maybe it's where my head is (and isn't) lately and that I'm not in the same place to enjoy it. Whatever the reason, I was underwhelmed by this final chapter to June and Day's tale. I still think it's a very good trilogy and give it my recommendation, it's just not the satisfying conclusion I was hoping for.
