This was one of those library books that just jumps off the shelves and demands to go home with you--I noticed it because it looked new (though it's actually published in 2010) and because I really like Pema Chodron. Her work has value for everyone, and I think especially for leaders who can try to bring mindfulness into the workplace. It's a relatively short and easy to digest book, and would be accessible even for folks who don't have much tolerance for talk about spirituality or self improvement.

This is a must read for all human beings. The subtitle says it all. This short book is a concise, practical guide to a better understanding of ourselves and those that surround us. I was truly inspired by this book.

Thoughtful and concise book. After reading the library copy, I immediately decided to buy this book so I can periodically read it and "recharge" myself with some pragmatic wisdom.

Excellent insight on how we can relieve our own self-created suffering and thereby, also make a positive influence in the world. In straightforward fashion, Pema Chödrön shows how we get hooked on certain stories in our lives and how we can start to separate ourselves from them. The author shares her own personal experiences and missteps, even one of the Dalai Lama's. This brings both humor and support - "If even THEY falter, then we aren't doing so badly..." Highly recommended...
