It was OK...I could not wait till the story was over so I could start a book that's might like more.

After reading "Matched", Ally Condie's "Atlantia" was next on my reading list. Atlantia's dystopian setting is very interesting, and I enjoyed the fact that the plot was original but still familiar...and very unique! This is a light, gradual read that, while moving slightly slowly, interested me and kept me satisfied as a bookworm. I wasn't a fan of the fact that the two twins happened to fall in love with guys in pairs (the whole double-date boys come in pairs thing), however, the romance didn't dominate the whole plot, and added this nice flavour to this charming, beachy read that was quite captivating and enjoyable with an unlikely protagonist, conspiracy unfolding, and a touch of romance. Perfect. 4/5 stars.

From the author who brought you the Matched trilogy, Atlantia is another book written by Ally Condie. Rio has waited her entire life to live on the surface. It has been said that the surface is harsh and has bad air. But when Rio’s sister leaves Rio below and goes above, she is forced to stay below underwater. This was a good book to read. I liked Rio because she wants to go on land and she uncovers some secrets about the government below. There are also Sirens in the book that will soon be revealed. Since the surface is polluted, there is an underwater world for humans to live in. With oxygen given because there's a bubble enclosing the city. I liked this book and the characters as well. 4.5/5 stars.

This amazing author just doesn't know how to disappoint! I loved her Matched Trilogy, and I like how in this book a different type of society is brought to life. Her ideas are truly unique and her writing style is mostly enjoyable. I loved reading from Rio's first person point of view, and her mix of emotions from her sister leaving her. In a pursuit of answers, she undertakes a mission to do the unthinkable, with the help of someone who may be equally/more desperate than she is. I'm glad this book was condensed to a novel and not stretched out any further, or that would have been a bit, much.

In my opinion, I liked this book much better than the Matched trilogy. There was so much more depth to it and I loved how Ally Condie came up with the idea of an underwater city. Sometimes the story felt a bit "draggy" and it lacked action but overall I would definitely recommend this novel to anyone looking for a nice dystopian read.

I really wasn't looking forward to reading this. I had recently read the Matched trilogy by Ally Condie, which I had really not enjoyed. Nevertheless, I decided to give this one a try. 30 Pages in, I was hooked, and I couldn't stop reading. The romance was super slow but it was perfect. I loved Ally Condie's look at an underwater City.
I could totally relate to Rio missing her sister, as I am a twin. Condie portrayed this well. All in all I would say her world building was way better in Atlantia than the whole Matched trilogy. So goood.

A really interesting look at an underwater city, after our planet has been over polluted. I thought the world building was really interesting and the supernatural elements - Sirens! - were great. Definitely recommended to fans of dystopian and supernatural romance!

I love that the heroine's main drive and inspiration is the love of her female family members, rather than love of some guy (although there is a bit of that thrown in too).

Atlantia seemed interesting. I started it thinking that it would be about mermaids and sirens. I was right about sirens. There seem to be a slight implication that they could be different take on mermaids but I didn't see it if that was the case.

The premise was lovely. I liked the description and the world Condie tried to build. She did an amazing job getting the reader to imagine the scene that she was seeing, however, her writing came off very bland. I thought I would care about the main character, but I really didn't. She made all the other side characters more interesting than Rio. The lore in Atlantic was intriguing, I wanted to know more. However, Condie took the old info dump route.

Condie's ability may have improved since Matched, however I still don't care for any of the characters she creates. I won't be continuing with the series.
