A MAJOR MOTIONPICTURE FROM TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX. OPENS APRIL 10, 2015. STARRING SCOTT EASTWOOD, BRITT ROBERTSON, ALAN ALDA. WITH PHOTOS FROM THE MOVIE.
In the tradition of his beloved first novel, The Notebook, #1 New York Times bestselling author Nicholas Sparks returns with the remarkable story of two couples whose lives intersect in profound and surprising ways.
Ira Levinson is in trouble. Ninety-one years old and stranded and injured after a car crash, he struggles to retain consciousness until a blurry image materializes beside him: his beloved wife Ruth, who passed away nine years ago. Urging him to hang on, she forces him to remain alert by recounting the stories of their lifetime together. A few miles away, at a local bull-riding event, a Wake Forest College senior's life is about to change. Recovering from a recent break-up, Sophia Danko meets a young cowboy named Luke, who bears little resemblance to the privileged frat boys she has encountered at school. Through Luke, Sophia is introduced to a world in which the stakes of survival and success, ruin and reward -- even life and death - loom large in everyday life. As she and Luke fall in love, Sophia finds herself imagining a future far removed from her plans -- a future that Luke has the power to rewrite . . . if the secret he's keeping doesn't destroy it first.
Ira and Ruth. Sophia and Luke. Two couples who have little in common, and who are separated by years and experience. Yet their lives will converge with unexpected poignancy, reminding us all that even the most difficult decisions can yield extraordinary journeys: beyond despair, beyond death, to the farthest reaches of the human heart.

Comment
Add a CommentAs always, Nicholas Sparks takes us to the South and spins a wonderful tale. He does not disappoint in this story. I enjoyed the movie, but (as usually happens) I liked the book even more.
Such a remarkable story! So touching and so beautiful! Couldn't put is aside!
Love Scott Eastwood - excellent shooting of bull riding
I liked how he tied up the ending. The paintings that were bought with love, ended up with a person “who Understood.”
This was my strategy to read this book.
I was engaged at the beginning of the book, then the story of Luke and Sophia started and I was not impressed. It was like being a fly on the wall in a high school classroom. I didn’t find substance in what I was reading.
So, I decided to read the book in a different way.
First: I read the end! Yes! I wanted to find out the connection between the young and the old couple.
Second: I read all the chapters of Ira and Ruth.
Third: I read all the chapters regarding Luke and Sophia.
The Longest Ride is a great piece of literature. It's about a girl in her early-twenties meeting a man that she loves. At the same time, a old man Ira gets into a car crash. His dead wife visits him in different ages as they go down memory lane together. I like this book because it's a sweet novel to read under a tree in a park during summer. It has romance and a bit of drama. A well written, interesting book.
Reliable Nicholas Sparks stuff, not riveting, but engaging :)
Easy read that keeps you interested. The love story is touching and the way the 2 stories connected at the end made it even better. Ira and Ruth's story was captivating and warm. Recommend!!
A TOUCHING STORY, I HAD TEARS IN MY EYES AT THE END.FIVE STARS.
I loved this book, so it was somewhat predictable the story between the two couples were enjoyable and the ending was amazing. I understood.
This was well written but it did not hold my interest enough for me to finish the book. This is probably less a reflection on the author's skill than of the fact that I don't often like straight romances.
