I enjoyed this introduction to this new series and these two new protagonists. I will read the next one in the series.

An amazing book! The heroines are so likable and cool. The perfect amounts of romance, suspense, and horror. The reason why I didn't give it five stars was the ending: I found it a little abrupt and too cliffhanger-y. Otherwise, I would totally recommend it to anyone who likes historical fiction with a touch of steampunky gadgets.

I don't think anything was resolved. I suppose I could read the rest of the series to find out, but it didn't draw me in that much. Overall, I felt it relied on relationships to other famous characters to carry it and lend intrigue, which is why I picked it up, but it never really took on a life of it's own.

This is quite a unique read in just the sheer number of genres it aims for: steampunk, mystery, adventure, romance, some paranormal possibilities... with ancient Egypt and time travel thrown in with the teenage female relatives of famous literary characters. It doesn't fail at any of these points but also doesn't excel either. That said, I'll likely read the next book. I am always fond of strong female protagonists, and these ones make a unique team.

I was intrigued to see how the young female relatives of Bram Stoker and Sherlock Holmes would pair up. Unfortunately, I ended up confused (by the invented steampunk devices in 1889 London), bored with the main characters (had to keep checking back to see which girl was narrating the chapter) and hugely disappointed that most of the main mysteries were not resolved by book's end. Won't be looking for any more in the series.

This is a fast paced murder mystery. The author has cleverly incorporated steam punk into late 19th century London. In this novel you will meet relatives of Bram Stoker and Sherlock Holmes. And, a surprising visitor. The author's rich details adds to the atmosphere of London as new technologies were being used. This original novel is ready made for a Hollywood movie.
