In the summer of 2015, as he vaulted to the lead among the many GOP candidates for president, Donald Trump was the only one dogged by questions about his true intentions. This most famous American businessman had played the role of provocateur so often that pundits, reporters, and voters struggled to believe that he was a serious contender. Trump stirred so much controversy that his candidacy puzzled anyone who applied ordinary political logic to the race. But as Michael D'Antonio shows in Never Enough, Trump has rarely been ordinary in his pursuit of success and his trademark method is based on a logic that begins with his firm belief that he is a singular and superior human being.

As revealed in this landmark biography, Donald Trump is a man whose appetite for wealth, attention, power, and conquest is practically insatiable. Declaring that he is still the person he was as a rascally little boy, Trump confesses that he avoids reflecting on himself "because I might not like what I see" and he believes "most people aren't worthy of respect."

A product of the media age and the Me Generation that emerged in the 1970s, Trump was a Broadway showman before he became a developer. Mentored by the scoundrel attorney Roy Cohn, Trump was a regular on the New York club scene and won press attention as a dashing young mogul before he had built his first major project. He leveraged his father's enormous fortune and political connections to get his business off the ground, and soon developed a larger-than-life persona. In time, and through many setbacks, he made himself into a living symbol of extravagance and achievement.

Drawing upon extensive and exclusive interviews with Trump and many of his family members, including all his adult children, D'Antonio presents the full story of a truly American icon, from his beginnings as a businessman to his stormy romantic life and his pursuit of power in its many forms. For all those who wonder: Just who is Donald Trump?, Never Enough supplies the answer. He is a promoter, builder, performer and politician who pursues success with a drive that borders on obsession and yet, has given him, almost everything he ever wanted.

An unauthorized biography of the controversial businessman recounts his early days in development while reviewing the unorthodox approach that brought him success and that fuels his insatiable quest for power.
"In one way or another, Donald Trump has been a topic of conversation in America for almost forty years. No one in the world of business-not Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, or Warren Buffett-has been as famous as Trump for as long. First associated with high-profile real estate development in 1970s Manhattan, his name has since become synonymous with success defined by wealth and luxury. What does one make of a grown man who, when he argues with women, stoops to insulting their appearance and habitually courts controversy? What if the same man were among the most prominent people in the world, and a privately generous person who once handed a dying child a $50,000 check so that he could enjoy the last months of his life? Add to the picture a kind of resilience that has allowed him to stage countless comebacks and truly a boundless level of optimism, and you get a figure so compelling that he cannot be dismissed simply because of his personality"--Novelist.

I was hoping for a balanced account to give me perspective on the man but this was more of a hatchet job. I was disappointed.

Haven't read it yet, wondering if this biography will give details to Trump's plans to ban Muslims, create a national database, send them to concentration camps, or shoot them with bullets tipped in pig's blood. Or his plans to build a wall that's 1,954 miles long on our southern border, or to send a gestapo force to knock on/down doors of suspected "illegals." Or to allow a mob of his supporters to beat up and kick to the floor African Americans, like back in the days when America was still "great."

But really, even if this book included Mein Kampf-style plans, Trump could still shoot anyone he wanted on 5th Avenue and he wouldn't lose supporters.

It feels to me like D'Antonio is trying very hard to write a fair and honest biography of this controversial figure. That said, Trump does come across as a bully and a liar. Not a great book, but entertaining.

well written and interesting picture of a egotist that has no moral grounding. anyone who is thinking of voting for him should have to read this book. a self-promoting reality tv star does not make a good president

America must have some truly bad karma to have the submediocrities on the republicon side, and Hillary Clinton, running for the presidency. From Trump's remarks on Edward Snowden, I would have to conclude Trump is the typical American traitor swine. Interesting to note that in genealogical research of the candidates, it appears Trump and Hillary are distant cousins, both descended from Edward VIII [a dweebish, finicky and picayune type, given to incoherent speeches]. Not a great surprise, that. So if you are interested in a guy who prefers his women with heavy silicon, this is your book! [OK, I admit I skimmed it at the book store, but it was right after lunch, so . . .]
