I would rate City of Bones by Cassandra Clare 5 stars! This book was amazing. I think it is safe to say this is my new favourite series! Cassandra Clare sweeps you up into the Shadowhunter world, and you definitely won’t want to put the book down, so make sure you set aside at least 2 hours every time you pick up the book. The book was amazingly written and I always found myself wanting to know more. I found that Clary’s character was very relatable and likeable. Jace shows us that everyone has a story, and sometimes its ok to not want to let go of a part of your childhood. I really enjoyed how this book covered all aspects of a typical fantasy world, vampires, demons, werewolf’s, faeries, and of course the hero that saves everyone in the end. I found that this book would appeal to fans of Harry Potter and Twilight. I am typically not a fantasy reader, but this book might make me become one! I never knew that an imaginary world could seem so realistic yet magical at the same time, it was amazing! I recommend this book for everyone and hope that everybody will have the joy of reading the mortal instruments series at least once in their life.

City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare, I'm only putting a comment on the first book because there is so many, but let me tell you I absolutely loved the Mortal Instruments, The series is in my top 5 books, and let me just say. Bravo. I just loved it, it has so much suspense, and fantasy and it is so much fun to read, it fits my genre of books in every way possible, every page you turn there is something to catch your attention and you just can't stop, once you read the first book, it pulls you in and does not let you go, you just can't stop reading it.

This book is about Clary Fray when she decided one night to head to the Pandemonium night club in New York, While Clary is at the club she witnesses a murder. She can't believe what she is seeing the murderers are 3 teenagers that have a bunch of tattoos and have stranger murder weapons. Some totally strange shit is happening because the body disappears, the murdered are invisible to everyone else and there is no blood at all to be seen.

Clary is about to find out that this is her first meeting with Shadowhunters. And that her life about to change in soo many ways.

REVIEW:
These books live up to there hype. It has a little of everything for everyone. Romance- ass-kicking - demons - vampires - magic. I totally like all the characters. They all have a little something special. I love the Jase and Clary relationship. I am team Jace all the way.

I recommend this book to someone that likes vampires and demons and all that stuff mixed with romance. Cassandra Clare's writing is awesome and the book cover is so pretty.

I give this book 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Somewhat derivative of Harry Potter (the author used to write HP fanfiction apparently), but a fun and compelling story. I liked the characters and appreciated the effort to have diverse representation (compared to HP). I'm a grown-up, and I bought the book for my 13-year-old, but I appreciated the story and would recommend it to other adults as a fun read to do in between harder books. I plan to read the sequel.

Really good and I enjoyed it. The characters are amazing and I fell in love with the idea and world though the writing could be better. Over all an amazing sieres to invest in if you are ok with the quality. I have read a lot of them and its pretty good. Tottally recomended

While I love the concept, the writing killed it for me. Maybe if I had read this thirteen years ago when I was the intended audience I would've liked it more, but reading it many years after the fact and I like it significantly less than otherwise. There are parts of the book that seem a little hair-brained and derivative, and while I like most of the characters both on their own and as a group, some of them really come across as super cliche at times. It was an okay read, but I don't think I'll bother with the rest of the series.

I loved reading City of Bones, the first book in the Mortal Instruments series, because the plot was thrilling and I loved all of the characters. In this fantasy world, the main character, Clary Fray, is pulled into the world of Shadowhunters, where people hunt demons, when her mother goes missing. Clary learns a lot about herself and the world around her, where there are also all kinds of mythological creatures, such as vampires, werewolves, warlocks, and faeries. I loved the humor and the personalities of each character, as well as the link to the real world. City of Bones is one of my favorite books and I thought it was amazing!

An old fave that I first read back when it was published. Started my obsession with Cassandra Clare that continues to this day.

I’m not sure how I feel about this book. I have to remind myself that I’m an adult reading a YA novel and maybe that’s why I can’t connect with any of the characters. Then I thought about series like the Harry Potter and the Hunger Games that got me captivated and I didn’t think my expectations were too high. Some parts I enjoyed, some parts I was annoyed with, and at times I was waiting for the book to be over. However, it was still entertaining and I’m planning to read the rest of the series. The only character I felt has any depth was Jace. I am a little annoyed of Clary because they make her into a heroine but I she’s kind of useless at times and the whole every guy falls for her innocent/tomboyish attitude is so cliched. I hope I will get less annoyed by Clary and really see more of her “contribution” to the story other than waiting for other people to save her. There’s a lot of different type of creatures in this novel so it’s a little interesting.

Oh, my. If you don’t like thinking about demons or good vs evil, or, even worse, confusing the two, then this is not the book for you, if you are willing to let go and let the story ride, you might get to fly on a vampire’s motorcycle. It’s a wonderful ride.

When clary enters the pandemonium club she hardly expects to witness a murder, especially one that only she seems to be able to see. Beginning with that night Clary gets plunged in to a hidden world of shadow hunters and downworlders. Starting with the disappearance of her mom and moving to the even more extreme, this book will leave you dying to read the whole series!

This is one of my favourite books. I love the characters, particularly Clary and Jace. The way Cassie Clare writes is wonderful, it is beautifully descriptive and witty. I fell in love with Jace in this book, and he remains my favourite male character. I also love Clary, she is 'one of us'.

The back:
Their hidden world is about to be revealed...
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder--much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Clary knows she should call the police, but it's hard to explain a murder when the body disappears into thin air and the murderers are invisible to everyone but Clary.
Equally startled by her ability to see them, the murderers explain themselves as Shadowhunters: a secret tribe of warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. Within twenty-four hours, Clary's mother disappears and Clary herself is almost killed by a grotesque demon.
But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know....

lms Mar 22, 2008

Through meeting Jace, Alec and Isabelle - teenaged defenders of demonic evil on earth - Clary becomes embroiled in a world class struggle of good and evil and realizes that she may have superhero traits of her own.
