Isabel Johansen, a celebrated chef who grew up in the enchanting Sonoma town of Archangel, is transforming her childhood home into a destination cooking school--a unique place for other dreamers to come and learn the culinary arts. Bella Vista's rambling mission-style hacienda, with its working apple orchards, bountiful gardens and beehives, is the idyllic venue for Isabel's project...and the perfect place for her to forget the past. But Isabel's carefully ordered plans begin to go awry when swaggering, war-torn journalist Cormac O'Neill arrives to dig up old history. He's always been better at exposing the lives of others than showing his own closely guarded heart, but the pleasures of small-town life and the searing sensuality of Isabel's kitchen coax him into revealing a few truths of his own.

Outstanding book - great story line and excellent descriptions of the countryside. You must read The Apple Orchard first.

Interesting historical information on Danish world war 2 resistance. Also, would love a bite of each of the recipes. Good follow up to "The Apple Orchard", hope there is a 3rd to look forward to.

Excellent sequel to the Apple Orchard. I can't wait for the next one

I loved The Apple Orchard and now I love The Beekeeper's Ball. Wiggs' stories are wonderfully satisfying, full of interesting people and stories. The Bella Vista chronicles is a series I am enjoying very much. There are at least two full stories here -- the older one of 1940s Denmark and the resistance (the youth period of some of the older characters in this book) -- and the more current story of restoring Bella Vista, new projects, new love. The romance is multi-generational, with loving couples of different ages. Wiggs writes quite well. My only disappointment is with the ending. It felt rushed, trying to tie up stories that really needed more face time in the book. Leaving some loose ends (what happened with Jamie, for example). Perhaps these loose ends are to let us know there will be another book in this chronology, but I'm still a bit dissatisfied.

Absolutely incredible! This is the 2nd in the Bella Vista Chronicles and just as "The Apple Orchard" it is absolutely excellent! I can't wait for the next one to be released!
