Like millions of her millennial peers, Rachel Held Evans didn't want to go to church anymore. The hypocrisy, the politics, the gargantuan building budgets, the scandals church culture seemed so far removed from Jesus. Yet, despite her cynicism and misgivings, something kept drawing her back to Church. And so she set out on a journey to understand Church and to find her place in it.

This might be Evan's best work yet! RHE uses her own experience in the church to challenge us to think about our faith. She organizes the books in sections about the sacraments which helps build themes and challenges readers to consider what some symbols of the Christian faith mean to believers today. I highly recommend this one!

“…the journey of faith is rarely a straightforward one…. Scripture doesn’t speak of people who found God. Scripture speaks of people who walked with God. This is a keep-moving, one-foot-in-front-of-the-other, who-knows-what’s-next deal, and you never exactly arrive…. No step taken in faith is wasted, not by a God who makes all things new."
