I will endeavor to avoid florid language in my praise of this Victorian era Iliad. It's a buncha fun!

Lolz. An anguished poet sells his wife to the devil, then engages her adventurer brother to get her back. With footnotes. I picture this book being beloved by hipsters with waistcoats and watch fobs and waxed mustaches, although that is definitely not a requirement. The narrator(s) are hilarious; this book is lots of silly fun.

Sparkling dialogue and hilarious exploits power this parody of Victorian literature & manners to comic heights. Lionel Savage, gentleman of leisure and lover of all things poetical, accidently sells his wife to the devil then endeavors to get her back. Hijinks ensue. For fans of clever butlers, wanton sisters, strapping, globetrotting adventurers, and silliness.
