I’m always impressed with books in series that happen at the same time – it just seems like so much to keep track of! (My absolute favorite example of this in the romance genre is Juliana Gray’s Victorian era, Italy-set Affairs by Moonlight series, in which all three books take place simultaneously AND there are ghosts AND it’s all a loose retelling of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labours Lost [tl;dr = READ IT].) Anyway! I was excited to see how Elizabeth Boyle would tackle her attempt at simultaneously-occurring books, and I was overall quite pleased with the result. This is the story of the twin sister of the heroine from the previous book in the series, and it takes place during much of the action of that story. And it is totally charming! Boyle does an excellent job of writing twins who feel like two very distinct people, with very distinct love stories. Also, there’s a scene involving cross dressing. This was definitely a book that is best read as part of the whole series rather than as a standalone, though, so I’d advise would-be readers to keep that in mind if they’ve not read the earlier books in the series (all of which are quite good). If you’re a fan of Julia Quinn or Loretta Chase, this series, which is fun and funny and full of charm, is an excellent readalike.

This series continues to amaze. The author fits together the lives of so many characters like puzzle pieces. Tuck is by far the most adorable hero in this series.
