Character development, storyline...all in the south of France's throbbing city of Marseilles. This is literature not a pithy novel.

Masterful. Hidden within the framework of crime fiction, the author presents a novel of love and hate, hope and despair, action and fatalism, with characters that brim with humanity. The central character, though, is the city itself. Marseilles, a city of immigrants, with the tensions, ethnic, social and political, that define it... as they have done for thousands of years.
