Take a unique, sweeping historical journey through science, myth, and imagination as you learn about the Indigenous people of Turtle Island. One moment you will dive into the details of archaeological science, and the next be taken on a guided journey of imagination, envisioning yourself in a different time. This title spans from the Ice Age to present times. The darker parts of Indigenous history are also a part of this book, including residential schools. Ultimately, the tone is honouring and hopeful, celebrating Indigenous culture, history, and resilience. This is a fascinating and unique treatment of history and culture, enhanced by beautiful artwork and photographs.

An information-packed resource on First Nations groups of North America. I appreciate that this book combines the histories of a variety of Indigenous groups with science, archaeology, and mythology – a great resource to support the new BC curriculum. I like that this resource includes traditional First Nations stories (Origin of Yellow Cedar, The Story of the Weasel Woman, How Wild Rice Was Given to the People, etc) to further explore life of the First Nations groups discussed in this book.

A super general overview of the life of the indigenous people's of North America made for young adults. This book stresses the extreme variety of indigenous people and the multitude of different cultures and religions and ways of life that are now lost to us. This is the right way to teach indigenous history, not just European colonization.
