I love a great historical fiction where I learn something. I wish this had more "history" in it, I hoped for more of the plot about the religious conflict during the time, but it was used more as a plot device for a romance and a little mystery. My standard for this type of read is Pillars of the Earth, and it in no way compared, however I did enjoy it for the most part. Many readers will enjoy this greatly, for me it was just average.
