Enjoyed the characterization of the family members, good story line. Interested in seeing what is up next for this family.

A good narrator, David Chandler, and after a slow start, a good book. Some chilling parts, and a surprise twist. So relieved that the sweet varmints survived! A good start on a series featuring Joe Pickett, Wyoming game warden with a young family, trying to overcome the gregarious shadow of his larger-than-life predecessor while keeping poachers in line. Everything that could go wrong does, after a bloody poacher stumbles into Joe's yard and dies there.

Kris--Pt. Roberts, who is looking forward to listening to the next adventure, Savage Run.

Great for a debut. Good narration.

It had a couple unexpectedly crass moments, which since I was listening with a pal, made for a bunch of ridiculous in-jokes aftewards. Note: if you plan to listen with a friend, for your own comfort, you may want to choose someone that doesn't freeze in fear and stare straight ahead when things get a little graphic.

The story was simple and any mystery element figured out pretty quick (maybe a twist or two in there), but the information was still good and I like the start/introduction to Joe Pickett's character. I can tell he's going to have a few rough "live and learn" experiences as he wisens up in his field of work.

The book gave some perspective/information on the endangered species act. It's a quick easy read for outdoorsy/hunting/nature/shooting enthusiasts and was perfect for a road trip.

"The star crossed saga of Joe and his gun" could be an offshoot tale...
